Comparing Will Kill Your Soul

The amazing thing about this thing called life, is that each and every one of us is uniquely designed. We have our own individuality when it comes down to our physical features, personality traits, morals, and values.
So why do we compare ourselves to others?
Why do we downplay just how badass we are?
Why do we fear going against the flow?

Society strives to condition us to look a certain way, achieve certain goals, and to keep up with, well...
I am a born perfectionist. There have been times when I have suffered panic attacks and anxiety from not measuring up to my own expectations or the expectations of others. What I am learning more and more every day, is that I am compromising my health and well-being.
Here is what I try to keep in mind as I become a perfectionist at feeding my soul:
1.) Perfection is a Myth - We have to keep in mind that true perfection is finding happiness in all that we have. Life as we know it, is our whole truth. While the grass may appear greener on the other side, it is not our grass. For all we know, it could be artificial grass.
2,) Sometimes Life Sucks - We have to play the cards we are dealt in our lives. While most of us work our assess off for everything we have, others might not have had to work so hard. Regardless, one person may have to work their way to the top, while another has to work hard to stay on top. Why beat ourselves up when we can build ourselves up!
3.) Envy Creates Enemies - You know it's true. Envy can create underlying tension, even in the best relationships. We have to celebrate with one another when we succeed. We need to build each other up. We cannot base where we set our personal bar on the successes of others, but we can help each other lift the bar.
Life is filled with ups, downs, twists, and turns. We can be on the mountaintop in the morning, and on our knees by evening. When we are on the mountaintop, we have to remember to keep our balance. Recognize your surroundings and set attainable goals. The view from the mountaintop is beautiful, and who does not want to stay on top or climb higher.
If you happen to lose your balance, reflect on the hurdles. What obstacles crossed your path that distracted you from your place of balance? Make new attainable goals, and climb back up! All of our life experiences are stepping stones that guide us back to the top.
I am always learning. I make mistakes, and they are my mistakes to make. I own them. When I lose my balance, I use those stepping stones as breadcrumbs on my way back up. My mess is my personal message. And all of our messages are beautiful.
